As the arrival day for the National Jamboree approaches, we want to provide you with some important reminders to ensure a smooth and successful experience for everyone. Your role as contingent leaders is crucial in creating a safe and enriching environment for all participants. Please take note of the following reminders:
Youth Protection Training (YPT): It is essential that all adult leaders have current and up-to-date Youth Protection Training. This training is designed to ensure the safety and well-being of our youth members. Please double-check that your YPT certification is valid (completed after July 28, 2022) and that you are prepared to present your certificate upon arrival. Any adult leader without current YPT certification will not be allowed onto Summit and BSA property.
BSA Membership: Verify that the BSA membership for all youth and adult participants in your troop is current. If any participant’s membership has expired or is not up to date, they will not be granted access to the Summit property. The Jamboree Registration Team has seen many people who thought their membership was current only to find out it had expired recently. We encourage you to double-check the membership status of each participant and resolve any membership issues prior to arrival.
Medical Forms: Ensure that all leaders and participants have completed and submitted their Jamboree Medical Forms. These forms are crucial for providing appropriate care in case of emergencies and ensuring the well-being of all participants. Any person without completed medical forms will not be allowed onto the Summit property.
Duty Rosters: Review and finalize duty rosters for adult leaders. Assign specific responsibilities and tasks to ensure smooth operations and effective leadership throughout the Jamboree. Encourage teamwork and collaboration among adult leaders to create a supportive environment for all participants.
Communication Channels: Remind adult leaders about the designated communication channels for important announcements, updates, and emergency information. Emphasize the importance of staying connected and regularly checking the official Jamboree communication platforms to stay informed about any changes or updates during the event. Follow the Jamboree on all social media platforms @NatJamboree2023.
Code of Conduct: Reinforce the expectations of adult leaders in maintaining a high standard of conduct and professionalism during the Jamboree. Remind them to serve as positive role models and adhere to the Scout Oath and Law in their interactions with participants, staff and within the Scouting community.
Safety and Emergency Procedures: Review safety protocols and emergency procedures with all adult leaders. Emphasize the importance of remaining vigilant and proactive in identifying and addressing potential safety concerns. Remind them to report any safety issues promptly to the appropriate Jamboree staff.
Thank you for your dedication and commitment to the Scouting movement. We look forward to your arrival and the positive impact you will make as adult leaders.
