Welcome to Summit Apex!
The 2023 Summit Apex is the newest program brought to you by the Order of the Arrow. This all inclusive program celebrates the fact we are ALL members of Scouting BSA.
Arrival
You will walk through the Summit Apex entry way at the Echo sub camp beginning at 2pm (NEW OPENING TIME as of Saturday 22July). Your Apex adventure in Scouting started the day you joined. As you walk through the entryway think back to your first meeting. Think about ALL of the fun and friends since your original Day One.
You are ready to participate in the Summit Apex Experience. All you have learned and become since joining Scouting will be highlighted today as you move toward the Summit Apex.
The stickers on your jamboree Credential indicate the DATE of your invitation & the color of your Apex Subcamp.
Make your way to the tent with your Apex Subcamp (Red, Blue, Orange, Green). You will be met by the National and Region officers of the Order of the Arrow. The Experience begins….
Your Apex Team
Find a buddy – that makes two people. Then join up with another buddy pair. Then your quad can join up with another group. Now you have 8 people this is the Team you will spend the afternoon with at the Festival.
Passports
Your Apex Passport shows the SUMMIT APEX BINGO. Use this to meet as many people at Apex as you can. Which of the squares describe you? How many people can you meet that fit these descriptions. New Friends! And the day has just begun.
Program Festival activities and the Time Line Talks
The Festival Activities are scattered around the field. Your Apex team is invited to accomplish as many of the activities as you can. Do them all. As you complete each of the activities notice how you contribute to the team. What do your teammates contribute? How do your combined strengths and talents make your whole team a powerhouse? Laugh, participate, learn, and create the fun and experience of Summit Apex.
There are Time Line Talks mixed into the activities. These are connection points to what makes Scouting that invisible force in your life. Scan the QR codes and discuss among your team those memories and highlights in Scouting. The magic of your stories shows how common words (like ranks, merit badges, summer camp, and leadership) have special meaning for EACH of us AND at the same time connect us to each other. That lived experience of Scouting is such a powerful force that we can all be Scouts in different places and times at the VERY SAME TIME. We all connect to the power of the Scouting program across the country.
Mural
You will see the FORWARD Mural as you enter. This message sets the Apex into motion. We will all add our LEFT HAND to the Forward mural. This shows how we are all moving Scouting Forward. After the Jamboree we will each tell FIVE new people about this amazing program that has brought each of us so much fun, friends, and fellowship. Scouting as helped move each of us Forward… Do a Good Turn Daily and tell five more people about the power of Scouting.
OA Activation Station
Drop by this tent to discuss how to reengage with the OA. National Officers, past National/Regional Officers and key youth members of the OA are ready to engage and chat with you about getting involved in the OA. If you are not yet a member of the OA stop by to discuss the process and see what awaits you as a member.
Feast
You are invited to join us at the Summit Apex celebration feast. We have prepared a special meal for you. Take a break from eating in your campsite and enjoy the FEAST. Continue the conversations and connections you started when you walked through the Apex Entryway.
Rally
You will love the interactive, engaging, and inspirational Rally Show that will bring the whole Summit Apex to a close. You will not want to miss the interaction and the show. You are part of the action and you become part of the Apex show team as you participate and watch the Rally Show. Reflect on our Oath and Law. Enjoy music, rededicate yourself to moving Scouting Forward. Be Prepared for even more fun and engagement.
Notice that you will depart from Summit Apex on a different trail. As you leave you will realize that Summit Apex has helped you connect with buddies and friends you knew before. The new people you met. The activities and reflections to the power of Scouting. Summit Apex is not over, you don’t ever leave the Apex….your path out of the Summit Apex leads to even more adventure, fun, fellowship, friends and Scouting. Forward we go!!!!
Be a Good Scout
Please remember a Scout always leaves a place better than they found it. Help the Apex Staff by policing your area and helping us keep the Summit Apex clean and litter free.
Adult Leaders
You may want to bring a chair with you. We will provide an orientation for you about the Summit Apex program. If you would like to help us as an Apex volunteer we would appreciate it. There are several Festival Activities that we need help staffing. One of the program elements we would like you help promoting are the Time Line Talks. There are signs with QR Codes around the programming space. Please encourage your Scouts to participate.
