A: The primary dining facility for Jamboree Service Team, Fork in the Road Dining Hall, will operate from 5:30 A.M/P.M. to 9:00 A.M/P.M. daily. This hybrid complex combines the convenience of the “big white tent” with the familiar setup of the Fork in the Road facility. For select JST members, the Pigott Dining Facility will serve a portion of the Jamboree. A: Summit to Go offers prepackaged lunches, conveniently available for pick-up during breakfast hours between 5:30 – 9:00 A.M.
Q: What type of pocketknife can my Scout bring to the Jamboree?
A: A sharp pocketknife with a can opener on it is an invaluable backcountry tool. The type of knife required for use at the National Jamboree is likely a small pocketknife with a can opener. Per West Virginia Law Chapter 61, Article 7, daggers, dirks, poniards, stilettos, switchblade knives, or any knife with a blade longer than 3.5 inches is not allowed at the National Jamboree. In addition, while the Scouting program teaches Scouts how to safely use a knife as a tool, it is important that we also remind our Scouts that a knife is not a weapon. Knives cannot be used for attention, or to threaten or harm others. Scouts can model appropriate behavior with knives by remembering the principles they learned while earning their Totin’ Chip. The 4th point of the Totin’ Chip instructs “Respect all safety rules to protect others.” Remind Scouts if they see someone using a knife unsafely or threatening someone, they must report it to their Jamboree adult leader.
Q: Are there any age requirements for shooting sports?
A: In order to share the experience at the pistol range the participant must be at least 14 years old or have completed the eighth grade.
- Tent capacity at campsites is 22 two person tents or 40 single person tents.
- You can substitute 1 two-person tent for 2 one-person tents in either configuration as needed.
A:
- Each campsite will normally have a capacity for 22 two-person tents or 40 one-person tents. In some campsites it may be possible to add one or two more tents based on space available. This will be a case-by-case review with the subcamp commissioner staff. The key issue is to maintain the necessary fire lanes and spacing.
- This review will take into consideration the tenting guidelines for adults, young adults and youth based on age and gender.
- Based on the increase in the number of adults in many units, it should be planned that two adults per tent will be necessary subject to the tenting guidelines.
- Tent spacing between tents is normally 1 foot.
- There is a 5-foot-wide fire lane after every 5 two-person tents or 10 one-person tents in a continuous row.
- Campsites are normally 36’ x180’.
- There are some campsites that may be narrower or shorter.
- Campsites will be marked by the subcamp commissioner staff prior to units arriving.
- Use the troop block diagram as a guide for the campsite setup as shown at the link below: https://jamboree.scouting.org/wp-content/uploads/sites/6/2022/03/NSJ2023_TroopBlockConfiguration-LC-No-edits-needed.pdf

- If you have a change that you would like to make, review that with your unit commissioner to determine if the request can be accommodated while maintaining proper fire safety protocols.
A:
- If you have a medical reason for a campsite location near a shower house, please send an email request to [email protected]
- Once campsite assignments are made a member of the subcamp commissioner staff will contact contingent leaders prior to the Jamboree to confirm the details for your unit. If your campsite assignment is determined to be too far from a shower house to accommodate the medical issue, discuss the issue with your unit commissioner so an alternate campsite assignment can be requested.
