Prepare for an extraordinary experience at the 2023 National Jamboree with the Summit Apex program, brought to you by the Order of the Arrow (OA). Building on their legacy of Scouting innovation, the OA has created something truly special for Scouts of all backgrounds. Inspired by the words of Lord Robert Baden Powell, the Summit Apex program is a game with a purpose, designed to challenge and engage Scouts in a variety of physical and mental activities while highlighting the values and skills that all Scouts share.
At its core, the Summit Apex program is about teamwork, fun, and discovering what makes Scouting truly exceptional. Scouts will form teams and embark on a half-day, outpost-style adventure at Basecamp Echo of the Summit Bechtel Reserve. Together, they will tackle a series of challenges and engaging activities, learning the importance of communication, problem-solving, and trust, all while having a blast.
The Summit Apex journey kicks off with the Apex Experience team, dividing the 2,000+ daily participants into four “subcamps.” OA national officers will lead the groups in a high-energy activity to introduce and prepare them for the Summit Apex adventure. Next, participants will explore the Apex Festival, featuring interactive elements that showcase the rich and shared experiences of Scouting. The festival will create the “wow” factor, leaving participants in awe. To cultivate fellowship, the Apex Feast will bring everyone together for a special meal available exclusively at Summit Apex. Additionally, the Apex team will run an “Activation Station,” engaging inactive and future OA members throughout the jamboree.
The Summit Apex program goes beyond physical challenges; it aims to inspire Scouts to become ambassadors for Scouting in their communities. Following the Apex Feast, participants will witness the Apex Rally, a unique thematic show. This rally will encourage reflection on their experiences at Summit Apex and in Scouting, equipping them with the tools and motivation to share Scouting with others. It is a chance for Scouts to ignite their passion and create a lasting impact.
